Description:

This older piece is a commissioned cover illustration for an unpublished comic book. It references the plot-essential creation story in which two dragons generate the universe by chasing each other's tails, destroying themselves in the process and leaving only their eyes. I took some artistic liberty with this and interpreted them as life and death dragons. Drawing my inspiration from nebulae, the helix nebula in particular was my main reference as it is shaped like an eye. The young man in the foreground is the main character. My client was very happy with it, but never finished writing the story.
